The Importance of Good Sofa Legs Your entire sofa, chair, ottoman, and other furniture rests on the leg. Defective legs can lead to structural damage to the furniture item because of uneven stress loads being placed on the frame. It is important, not only for appearance's sake but also for the well-being of your furniture to keep the legs in good repair.
Installation is easy and best with another person helping you. Turn the sofa onto its back to allow easy access to the legs. Do not tilt the sofa backward with the legs still on the ground, this can damage the bolt holes. Lift it cleanly from the ground before laying it down. Grasp the old leg and turn (counterclockwise) to unscrew the leg. Please note, that the bolts are supposed to be part of the leg, not the sofa. If the bolt stayed in your sofa when you removed the leg, you will need some pliers to remove that bolt.
Pick the correct size bolt. The TruFitLeg™ comes with a selection of bolts, select the size that fits correctly, and set the extra bolts aside.
Insert the bolt. Insert the correct bolt through the bottom of each leg and screw it into the sofa with a Philips (cross-tip) screwdriver. (The leg bottom has a wider hole.) All the TruFitLeg™ are designed to facilitate installation with provided Phillips head bolts.
Tighten the sofa leg to your sofa. Carefully thread the bolts of new legs into the sofa frame and tighten until snug with your Philips screwdriver. Turn the couch over and set it back up for use.
